Spellbound by David Jones is finally on it's way to the MSX.

Here is a video of it in action.

Thank you to Tracy Lewis for making an old mans dream come true.

Very cool! The other games were quite good ports, I think. This one looks definitely on par with them!

I have the C64, CPC, and Spectrum versions of all 4 Magic Knight games and I've always thought the MSX versions were superior (although I've not played the 128k Spectrum versions), and I think Tracy has done Spellbound justice from this video.
I'm really excited by this.

I guess it's nice that there is finally a port for the MSX.

I must say that, I mostly remembered that this game was very hard to finish. It has a very tight time limit that make it impossible to finish it casually without some POKEs. The game also has some mechanics that won't work if you turned off the timer. I hope not too many of these features were ported to the MSX version.

Spellbound is well into the beta testing and Tracy is going to try to remake the music to be closer to the C64 Ron Hubbard version that the Spectrum 128k version.

As well as ROM it will also be CAS and hopefully DSK as well.
For the CAS I have remastered the Cassette Inlay so that it is correct for the MSX.

For those that need them, The CAS version has loading bars.

An interesting blog on reworking the music for Spellbound and why even the music on the Spectrum 128k version is wrong.

Nice ! Smile
I spent hours with Strombringer when I was younger.
I was not a big English reader back then...
Nice to see the missing chapter will be released for MSX at last.
Great work!
By the way, I wonder if the music in Strombringer is a special version for MSX or is a bad port, as it seems to play faster than other versions...

It's the Spectrum 128k music. It's actually slower and lower because the Z80 versions were originally made on an Amstrad where the PSG and Z80 work at 4Mhz but the Spectrum and MSX operate at 3.54Mhz. There is an explanation in the link to the blog and how it's being hopefully fixed.

Thanks for the explanation.
I am asking about music in Strombringer, not in Spellbound.
I think think the music in Stormbringer plays faster than it should be. Definitelly it is different from the one in other versions.

Ooops. Sorry about that. my guess is Stormbringer and Knight Tyme have similar issues as Spellbound. Ported from the CPC without taking into account the difference in processing speed. I'll be honest and I've never tried a comparison of them.
