I have no words. Simply THANKS.
1' With roms disk access is allowed to save progress when possible. Youk youk, Metal Gear 2 is going to be replayed by me. I think you were talking about real disk and not also a virtual usr disk as sofarunit make.
2' what are the file extension accepted for screenshots? Any idea on how use/convert PNG, MIF and JPG I have in my launchers?

I can"t wait for the babysitter to have time to try it
Thanks again for your works

That was already available in SofaRun v1.0. If you launch a ROM accessing disk (or a ROM with Game Master), it will be able to access your MSX-DOS 2 file system. Metal Gear and the Game Masters are saving files, so you'll get them on your SD card in the ROM directory, or in the SAVEPATH directory that you can define in the SR.INI file.
Note that you can save to a real disk by setting it to "C:", but there's not much interest in it Tongue

Those are now .SNP files (and not .MIF anymore). I had to change format for faster loading speed. I just added a snapshot pack on my site (look for "Snapshot pack").

You showed us incredible things..
.. so we can believe you can almost all...
.. what about Laserdisc and .ogv games?
I mean...
.. emulation routine is available on openmsx...
.. sd has anough space for at least 1 .ogv file ....

Laserdisc software emulation on MSX, really Smile ? No way to do that, it would be waaaaaaaaaaaay to slow (you alreay need a good PC machine on emulators !), and can't be done because the Laserdisc image is displayed in the background (it's not a real screen 2 image). We could just dream of an enhanced MegaFlashROM which could read and decode the video files from SD Card, and send the video signal to the "superimpose" video channel or something...

More seriously, next steps in SofaRun will be support of long file names, and custom file extensions in the SR.INI file.

- So maybe in the next release I could use the extension .FD1 .FD2 etc etc for disk images?
Those extensions in fact are very useful with MFRSCCSD and I have many of these.

- So there will be an utility to convert files to .snp format? Also with batch sequence to convert many files at one time?

- Maybe it was an old question, sorry in that case.
The only way to have a saving option of the progress in a game are: 1) Game Master 1 or 2 supported games 2) Games who allow to save progress on disk and/or SRAM. No chance for other games, right?

Hi Giuseve,
Missed your questions the last time, anyway, here are some answers:

giuseve wrote:

Yes. Maybe the next-next version (zip files support will come first).

giuseve wrote:

Yes, there already is one, but I might want to change the file format for the .SNP files (using BitBuster compression). I'm using RLE for now, it's super fast (that's what I wanted) but files tend to be a a bit large...

True. Other options will never work 100%. I might try something one day, but that's not the priority now.
