The keyboard is a JIS one, there's a picture of it in the first message. Anyway I'll take a more detailed photo to show how the keys are arranged.

Can you please do that still or again? The picture on the MRC Wiki suggests it's a JP_50on keyboard and not JIS.

Hi, I still own the machine Smile, pretty amazing to see prices of the junk items back then...

What do you need, detailed pics of the keyboard?

Yes please.

It confirms that it's a JP_50on layout.

What's exactly a JP_50on keyboard?, I've been looking in the Wiki but there's no comment about it...

Check the blueMSX manual: http://www.msxblue.com/manual/japanesekeyboard_c.htm

As Takamichi has explained in another thread, the JP_50on layout is something similar to ABCDEF for kana characters.

Quote:

A Japanese keyboard with the kana characters assigned like FS-A1 and Sony HB-101 is called "50 on hairetsu" (50 sounds layout) keyboard and is translated "Japanese Syllabic Keyboard". It's like ABCDEF instead of QWERTY. It has nothing to do with the American standard ANSI, so I recommend "50 on" or "Syllabic". Details

Note: at the time the blueMSX manual was written, we thought there was no MSX1 computer with JIS layout, but it was wrong. And ANSI terminology was used, just like in openMSX.

Thanks for the explanation!. Pretty curious the different japanese keyboard arrangements, just out of curiosity I've compared FS-A1, Wavy25FD and FS-A1ST and all of them are different between each others!, never noticed this...

What's the difference between the FS-A1 and the Wavy25FD?

I'm not a "pro" at japanese; but I can clearly seen different graphic japanese letters between both keyboards. The FS-A1 ones remembers me the Hiragana alphabet, the Sanyo seems to have more Kanas?, Katakanas? in its keyboard.

Some keyboards give the priority (on the keys) to the hiragana characters, but the katakana characters have the priority on other keyboards. Access to the 'alternative' characters depends on the status of the Caps key.
