Hey guys not sure if anybody can help. I'm looking for a storage solution other than Cassette for quick and easy saving and loading of programs i type into my MSX 1. An SD Card interface seems like the best option or possibly a Floppy Disk Drive but i have no clue what i will need in terms of Memory, DOS, Power, Price etc. Your help and guidance are gratefully received. Kind Regards. HB

Do you want to use it to save and load MSX BASIC programs?
Which MSX machine do you have?
For a cheap and very basic hard disk type of device I think a BEER IDE is good.

BEER IDE is the least evolved disk interface for MSX. It doesn't support MSX-DOS2/Nextor at all even if you add it in another slot.

I'm still undecided. The price point of the available options and or availability is the sticking points for me. A just cant warrant 100 for a cartridge no matter what it can do :/ Nextor does sound nice though. Would that allow saving files with filenames longer than 6 charachters ?

Where are you based? You also need to consider the postage cost and time for these things as well.

All MSX disk systems allow you to use filenames of 8 characters and 3 for the extension.

Nextor/DOS2 allows you to use subdirectories and large disks with FAT16 file system.

Thank you Manuel. Can you clarify how to read .BAS files ? I understand them to be BASIC Listings but when i open any of them on the PC in NOTEPAD or any document viewer they appear corrupted :/

There will be a limited batch of Sunrise CF-IDE cartridges from our Russian Carnivore2 manufacturer soon. Price is around 50$ + shipment.
