Since I occasionally check out this website I might just as well introduce myself.
This nickname dates back to the time I bought my first MSX.
It was an MSX2 nms 8220 with cassette's!
Fortunately I also bought one cartridge which was Metal Gear.
I played this game a lot (never could finish it though) with my friends and they called me Metal Geart for it.
The latter part (Geart) is the Frisian pronunciation for my real name, which makes it suitable for me.
So I guess the Dutch MSXers now know which part of the Netherlands I am from! :-)
Later I bought a MSX2 VG 8235 with diskdrive, 265 Kb and 7 Mhz switch. Great!
I still have it and occiasionally use it.
Also back then I had some MSXing friends and we visited the fairs in Zandvoort and Tilburg.
Those were really great and big fairs.
I must say that my interests were (and still are) mainly in gaming, since I can't program.
I have made some music with Moonblaster, but nothing fancy I'm afraid.
I shifted my musical "talents" towards playing guitar in a band, which seems to work better for me :-)
I was surprised to find this active MSX resource center. It's fun to learn what is still going on and also sometimes I find some usefull tips for games that I have never finished. I will probably (no, certainly) bug you with some gaming questions every now and again, since a lot of games still need to be finished and there isn't a lot of time available (holidays are my MSXing days if any...).
Greetings Metal_Geart
