hi again

today i feel like sharing. in this case, a little test demo to see how such a scroll could look: the answer is not too bad. and there is room for improvement. as the code uses the horizontal hardware scroll capabilities, a v9958 is required. the graphics are meh, perhaps some skilled artist care to provide better tiles.

sorry for not posting a youtube (how can i record a video from openmsx in linux?)

download code and rom from https://github.com/out168/scrolltest. the README has the details, but of course you can contact me to clarify things.

hope someone finds this useful!

see ya

Nice test, even if with v9958 this kind of things are not too difficult ;-)

thx Manuel

i posted a video recorded with openmsx, which looks different (and to my eyes better) than Huey's.

(or search for out168 msx2+)

@Huey: recorded with bluemsx? it would be very nice if you can test on real hw.

@ARTRAG: i agree that it is not too difficult, and wonder why this was not used in many games (at least none that i know of)? i think this can even be done on v9938, just change horizontal by vertical :D

this can be done in 9938 just using the adjust registers as manbow does. It will have wabbling borders but who cares ?

The developers were already aiming to other platforms when msx2+ arrived, so the number of good games developed for msx2+ would fit in one (crippled) hand, even fewer are those for TR.
