What? That's cool Smile

X68000's Xak soundtrack must be the most exuberant one.
It comes with some nice variations here & there, and the alternate opening tune (shared with PC-88) is GREAT. Of course Upsky of Fire Land (to stick with some alternate/familiar sounding naming here Wink) Badu's Menace is great here as well, pretty relentless :-D
Overall / in the end I do prefer the MSX OPLL+PSG version, but this one has some very(, very) nice renditions of some of our favourite tunes.

Picks (playlist, 9 items).

Wow, very good point, Samor. That can't be coincidence. I play(ed) that game on PS3 so I never even saw this. Shocked!

They eventually made both extra missions available on all platforms, this was originally only on Xbox. It makes sense, Metal Gear Rising was the first Metal Gear on the platform (that game also has a nice reference, in the first stage one of the buildings has a sign "Queen Oleen Hospital" Smile )

Testament on PC-88

Yeah, love this as well Smile
But I've never listened / been able to listen to the MSX2 soundtrack properly. Is there an .kss of this? Why haven't you uploaded this soundtrack to your channel yet anyway? Wink

Have you checked out more stuff by Nobuhito Koise? Do you know Zavas (PC-98, OPN)? (Not a fan of that specific recording btw, this sounds better for example: Zavas (PC-98) - Main Title (Opening) (and what an opening it is.. ;))

Thanks, ren. I didn't know that game nor soundtrack, but from what I've (briefly) heard, it's great.
I'm sure you (and most chiptune fans here) know of his work for Final Zone and Sa-Zi-Ri.
Here are the X68000 versions of all the awesome Telenet work by him and all his former colleagues:

Almost 6 hours worth of that unique, captivating Telenet style of chiptunes.
I never really listened to the "Emerald Dragon" soundtrack, either, which I should do some time.
Also, I've never encountered a .kss of the "Testament" soundtrack.

Hey, I've come across that one a couple of time on VGMdb. So he has uploaded that as well.. (no stopping that guy Wink) Gonna listen for sure Smile

Regarding the Zavas opening tune - I'm quite puzzled by the whistling the song begins with. That sounds so good right, like almost real/digitized.. Wink

Now who has a/the Testament KSS? Wink

Btw: I don't like that specific Zavas soundtrack upload too much, because the highs/hats come over as too harsh to me. If you want to listen to it whole I think you're better off listing to it through hoot (sampling_rate=55466 of course Wink) (You know of cheap.exe btw?)

I think FM can produce some pretty nice flutes and whistles (sine + soft noise), and the "realistic" sound of it is due to good use of pitch bends and vibrato!

Nice Wink
Would it be hard to code a fade-out on exit? (So much more pleasant to the ears Wink)
