they have put in sockets made from cheap small sockets by cutting down middle so have removed them all and put round turned sockets now..
old sockets
now fixed this problem when removing i did see some sockets were not holding pins very well.new sockets-1
new socket-2
now my next question is if i do the msx2+ can i do the video chip 9958? or leave the 9938? as i have it apart i can remove it and put socket in and then follow directions to update.
The only real improvement of the MSX2+ over the MSX2 is the video chip, so V9958 is essential to any MSX2+ upgrade.
one other thing is the x5 keyboard mod the ones i have seen are for f1vx and not the plain HB F1 and the transistor they use for reset circuit is not in that place on the main board.. so was wondering where i could do the mod on a sony HB-F1.
also where to tap the x5 off the keyboard connector as well, what pin is it.?
thanks
ok so i have made a shim for the HB-F1 to do the ram & rom upgrade. after you remove the rom and put in a 28 pin socket in you put the new rom and rem onto the shim and just wire the extra wires.. of wich i still need a little help as i put above..
thanks
well the shim for ram upgrade has arrived and looks good. it will allow the rom to be re-moved and put on the shim with the 512 ram with out soldering to the rom it self.. https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArhzNv3jjwuggnR93UtoJlZtALy-?e=6dIMAX
its all set to go in just the rom to put in and where to put the X5 on the hb-
