However results could be better than the abadia del crimen for msx1 IMHO, if a good use of tiles is made.Definitely! La Abadía del Crimen (The Abbey of the Crime) for MSX1 is a plain ZX Spectrum port. Now we have the excellent remake for MSX2 by Manuel Pazos (visit his homepage), no need for a new MSX1 version.

Sure that's Last Ninja 2? I remember playing it on the NES as "Last Ninja"... cool graphics, horrid controls - but faster screen building =P

Also I dont think sprites would be usefull in this game, since both player and enemys can walk in front and behind the scenery (ok, you can change sprites pattern on the fly to simulate this, but it will slow down the game)

I don't think there could have been a better GFX conversion than the ZX version. The main problem it the isometric view. This is a nightmare in combination with the screen 2 color specs.

I don't find the Last Ninja game all that spectacular. One player, one enemy. That's all. The graphics is well done and suits the bland c64 palette well. Of course, it's not really comparable to MSX1. Both machines are good at different things. If you find the best of either, the other machine will probably have some trouble with it.

Altered Beast will be really hard to do better on MSX1. For MSX2 I could imagine something a little better than Rastan Saga for MSX2.

Main issue is the size of players and enemies. Even the NES has a hard time with Altered Beast and reverted to smaller sprites.......

Problem found in most ZX -> MSX conversion is the speed. What in a poor ZX is a fast and exciting game, it becomes sluggish on MSX due to the VRAM access bottleneck and bad/poor programming skills. Or just the lack of effort, because companies tried to make money, no perfect games Sad

It's nearly the same of the Spectrum game. And yes, I like it. I have played a lot the speccy version when I was a child, and well, it could be better (and use the MSX specs, or have a MSX 2 version), but I still enjoy it. The only thing I don't like actually it's the loading times... and that nobody did a "disk version" Tongue
