Mismatch happens if you do the online update in the wrong order f.e. Should do FPGA update first, then ROM update, and not to turn computer off between those two updates or you get mismatch (new FPGA with old ROM). Since the ROM update always reboot the computer, if you mistakenly do it first, you will also get the mismatch situation (old FPGA with new ROM). But with little care it will not happen, only by mistake. Also, sometimes mismatch is not a big problem if the update changes were small. But in your offline update procedure it can happen only if you get a power outage while performing it, though, otherwise it will update everything in the right order, you only have to run the program Smile

Ok this is a very good explanation of the problem, but the concrete solution by Eugeny was: better to use the USB Blaster!
My cart was too far behind the minimal version allowed for online and offline updates, so maybe the update didn't work as expected... And will never work...
My suggestion is to buy a USB Blaster to be sure to have a 2nd chance, the most reliable, and this device isn't too expensive and... you'll feel safe! Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

It will be nice if it would be able to always update via the web with the URL of our choice.

@gdx it is possible, the URL is not hardcoded, you're free to flash anything (well if it has correct format and right checksum) downloaded from amy site. but i guess the @Parn's problem is that he can't use ethernet Wink

I'll try sharing my wireless network connection with the MSX. This should enable me to perform an online update, if needed. Smile

Again, thanks to everyone who chimed in, especially @Pencioner. You've been pretty helpful. Wink
