What is the best game/demo or 2-player-game to show to a non-MSX friend?

OMG. How could I forget...

Quite some years ago already, a bunch of ('amateur' - doesn't mean 'bad' as we, MSX fans, already know) Japanese developers called 'Delta-Z' distilled (God knows from where) a full bottle of:

100%.
Pure.
F***ING.
!!!!!A*W*E*S*O*M*E*N*E*S*S!!!!!

...and poured it into the mould of a fighting game...

...they called it...

Fighters Ragnarök (YouTube footage)

Yes, it's for 2 players. :)

Next week, your house, and I'll bring some beers? Tongue
If you would, you can, no problem. We can even make a gaming weekend out of it with other 8-bit crazies.
It happens all the time here. Smile

Well, someday, I'll go to Holland and Spain!

When you do, you are welcome at my place to eat & sleep. I am not joking or trolling for a change.

That would be great. The REAL huge problem would be convince my wife that I'm actually going to the Netherlands just to find/play/drink beer with 8-bit fan friends... 1st thing on her mind: Red Light District! Smile

You can console her with the fact that the christian democrats are effectively destroying all that sinful stuff.

{self edit - deleted my original post since it has no place on a forum about MSX - for the eager to know about The Netherlands - email me to receive the original rant}

For 2 players VS games, I recommend 3 games I used to play a lot (not really sure if the names are correct since they were japanese).

Test Driver
Human Missile
Sum's Game

The first one is a racing game in a track that was a circle (or maybe an oval) the second one was like bomberman in the sense you had to kill the other player but with missiles instead of bombs, and you could control the missile, and the third one I don't remember very well, you had to go down some ropes and pick treasures trying to avoid crabs if I recall correctly.

They were all MSX2 games and featured the same character, a little kid who had always something pouring out of his nose Tongue

Wasn't the 2nd game you mentioned "Sum - The Missile Human"?
Like, 2 players against each other, one red, one green, and you'd control the missile you fire in the same fashion as the missile in Metal Gear?
So, the way you moved would be the direction the missile would follow.

There were some compilations of the "Sum" games - I think they were from Game Arts - the guys who made the Thexder 2 game, amongst others - since the SFX are obviously the same.

I don't know about "Test Driver".

Cool! Do you know how many games are there?
I had those three I mentioned and they were all very fun to play (and honestly they made you laugh) LOL!

Well, I can not look into the stuff I used to have. What I'm telling you now is just from my brain cells. Wink
What I can remember is,

Game #1:
Game: you are a guy with red hair, kicking ninjas who're throwing shyuriken at you - at the end you will become a superhero by doing a combination, defeat the guy and then next level
Graphics: slow multi layer, city/beach/river background
Music: extremely cool 'Latino'-style music

Game #2:
Game: you have to collect shells at a beach with a tide which gets more and more volatile - until the sun sets - with an annoying blonde, white guy who tries to surf his board to your ass all the time. Win the game, and you get married.
Graphics: beach. Waves get more aggressive, shells to pick up, sun setting
Music: some traditional Russian/East European music

Game #3:
Game: control a submarine with the typical 'Sum' guy head sticking out of it. Enemies will drop mines. Fire a missle, release button will mean missile is going up. Meanwhile, you have to get above the surface to breathe.
Graphics: just a scrolling under-water
Music: not so special, can not really remember.

Game #4:
Game: some skipping game upon a chessboard. Called in Dutch the "Flea Game", IIRC.
Grapics: nice
Music: none

Game #5:
The missile game we were talking about
Music: some traditional Russian/East European music - "Nima naja nima paparosjka nima njet nima molokai" - (meaning: we've got no eggs, no cigarettes, no bread, no milk...))

Game #6:
Some game about a construction worker having trouble with some alien stuff -
program seems to be 100% MSX-BASIC; GFX are abviously from Game Arts; SFX just like Thexder II

There should be more, anyway.
They co-operated with Compile, just like Monkey-Do did with they "Lulba" series.
I can not work my brain any more now, sorry. Smile
I will go to sleep now.
There were a lot more games of those guys.
They appeared on 'special' Compile disks, too.

Thanks for all the replies!!!
I think I'll have a great MSX-intensive day with my friend when he comes back to my house!! He admited he liked the MSX!

@~mk~: I don't know "Test driver" but I remember a game by T&ESoft, hidden in a disk magazine or something. It was a top view racing with only 6 tracks. I can't rememeber where it was found but I know it was something like a special disk or a disk magazine...

@DemonSeed: Fighters Ragnarök! I forgot it!! I remember playing it in a friend's house... Too bad I don't have it... It's like Street Neo Fighter II, isn't it?
