It's been almost a year since our last look at fMSX-Android and in the mean time its developer Marat Fayzullin has released a steady stream of new releases. Most recent iteration of this portable MSX emulator is version 4.5.4. Among the many changes since we last reported about fMSX-Android are the following highlights:

  • Dual player supports with two gamepads
  • Instant replay (rewind) function
  • Cheat hunter tool
  • Graphical improvements, Material Design icons
  • Improvements to sound emulation
  • Various color mask and interpolation effects

I like the idea of being able to buy a version without ads. Why does openmsx for android always has adds, Vampier?

I'd say fork over the 2,99 for fMSX if you haven't already, this emulator has been influential since long before OpenMSX even existed. There are worse ways to spend 3 dollars...

fMSX also has unique features for Android, such as Android TV support.

Samor: sure, it has been influential, but I wouldn't say that is a reason to buy it Tongue But anyway, do whatever you like of course Smile
In relation to this, all I can say is that openMSX started because of fMSX Smile (8 years after fMSX started in 1993.)
