Many of you are probably familiar with GR8Bit, a do it yourself platform to create your own MSX2/2+ computer. Its developer, Eugeny Brychkov, is now also working on another project called GR8NET.

As the name suggests, it's a network card for MSX. With other network cards such as Obsonet en Denyonet being very hard to get your hands on, this initiative could be a great way to connect your MSX to networks such as the internet.

The specifications of the card are being discussed on our forums. You can find the thread right here.

The network card comes with an extensive set of BASIC commands and an interesting feature is the possibility to directly load ROM-images from a network. The card does not support the MSX-UNAPI specification just yet, but this is also being discussed.

You can watch a video on YouTube, where Eugeny Brychkov explains the features of GR8NET, right here

I really like the fact, that it is based on the Wiznet W5100 - the ethernet controller, which is also used in DenYoNet. I wonder if it is possible to use the new software coming with the GR8NET on DenYoNet as well as adapting Konamimans DenYoNet ROM for the GR8NET? Anyway, I hope I can support it in SymbOS, too!
