With the long-running MSXdev'xx contest offering us a steady stream of compact-size MSX games, the annual #msxdev Compo was born out of a desire for less restricted MSX software: For example megaroms, disk games, games that use Memory Mappers or FM music. Be it MSX1 or MSXturboR, games, demo's or utilities, all MSX software can enter the #msxdev Compo.
The first edition was held in 2012, with success: It spawned 7 entries, a mix of (some fully playable) games and very enjoyable demo's. Alas, the second edition was less successful. This year marks the third edition of this competition, and while no entries have been announced so far, we know there is movement behind the scenes. #msxdev Compo 2014 looks promising!
Like previous years, the registration closes on the 30th of November, and the final deadline, when the entries must be submitted, is the 31th of December. With about six months left, there is plenty of time for more people to start up a project and participate in this competition!
The prize pot currently is 100 euros, of which 50 euros is awarded to previously announced but never finished/released projects, and the remaining 50 will go the overal winner. All prizes are donated by the community. Donations are open for those who want show their support.
More information about the compo (like how to enter, the rules, etc.) can be found on the official website.
