Reminder: MSX Fair Nijmegen 2020

Topic: Events
Languages:

2020's fair will be held on Saturday the 1st of February. Like last two fairs, it will be held in the sports hall of "Dorpshuis De Lèghe Polder" in Beuningen, a village close to Nijmegen. As usual, doors open for visitors at 10:00 in the morning (though anyone is most welcome to come from 08:30 to help with setting up the room!), and the room should be completely empty again by 18:00. A lot of time to do some great MSXing together!

If you want to register a booth, you can use the registration form on the website to let the organisation know your details and how many tables (just €2.50 each!) you need. As usual, the form is only meant for booth registration; if you only want to sign up for the traditional after-party dinner, or want to sponsor the fair, please contact Manuel via e-mail instead.

Like last year, because dinner has to be ordered on beforehand at the caterer, reservations are only confirmed by paying in advance. A non-paid reservation is ignored! The price for the after fair dinner has been set to €14 this time.

As usual, this is a DIY event: the booth holders are free to organize nice little sub-events, like the now famous MSX-Quiz... If you want to help to make the fair (even) more interesting, please contact the organisation to discuss your ideas.
You can also help to make the fair more successful by promoting the fair on all the (social) media you can think of :)

Are you already looking forward to attending the fair? Plan to show something cool? Let us know below, and let's get the hype going already!

Hi Manuel and all!

I'm a new user in msx.org (not to MSX, though Tongue).
I just decompiled the BOOGA-BOO's MSX-1 game and uploaded the commented code to GitHub: https://github.com/mcolom/boogaboo_disasm_msx

And with a perfect timing, today I've discovered about MSX Fair Nijmegen 2020!
So, some questions:
1) Do you think it'd be a good idea to explain a bit the disassembled code of Boogaboo in this fair? I mean, I don't know if that's perhaps too technical for the audience, or if still there will be people that could be interested.
2) I don't speak Dutch :P So it would be in English. Is that OK?

Thanks!

mcolom: you are of course very welcome to show and explain anything you like (as long as it's MSX related). But there is no central place with a microphone, so you'll have to do it at a table. You can reserve one for yourself, or perhaps join someone else's booth.

Thanks Manuel and hamlet. Indeed, it think that simply doing a "temporal occupation" of one of the booths is perhaps the best option. In that case, I think the best would be to fix a time slot so people which may be interested in some Z80ing can approach and then I'll get your booth back, hamlet. Well, we'll see how we can do exactly. But again, thanks! Smile

Heheh. If you mean me - if I can get "leave of absence" from work at all (which I hope) to be able to visit the fair, I'm not gonna do anything but sniffing up the MSX atmosphere, and hopefully get the chance to talk with people a bit (which I kind of missed out on last year) and check out old and new stuff. Wink
See you there (probably).

If you haven't got any response on your registration within a day or two, please redo it. From now on I don't expect any problems anymore receiving the registrations.

bo.design likes the idea of holding a competition of the Caravan Boomer game. Worldwide the first three of the highscore list will be rewarded with the final game, which is expected to be released in April.
At the fair you will have the opportunity to prove your highsore!

Hello Manuel
Small petition, put my two tables in a quiet section if possible, in order to record the interviews with less noise.
Could that be possible? If so, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance

As the peopple are mortal, i guess that old platform wars would be forgotten (because many younger people interested in retro mostly have multiplatform interests as they weren't bound closely to particular platform in the youth), and there will be more and more collaboration and loyalty Tongue

Glad to hear MSX1 computers still go for that kind of money every now and then! I remember that 10 years ago on a Bussum fair I got a Sony HB-75P for € 5, more because the seller wanted to get rid of it than that I wanted to buy it Smile. Now they go for € 100 or so on eBay, and I am glad I have it so I have a proper MSX1 to test on, with RGB output too. I should’ve bought a turboR back then too Tongue.

There are a bunch of pictures posted here (with a familiar face in the first post).
