In memory of Remy van den Bor (theKid)

It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Remy van den Bor, known as The Kid of Deltasoft. He died of cancer earlier this week.

MSX was a great hobby for Remy; he spent his spare time programming his beloved computer and was a regular here on the MRC web site. Remy was known for his participation in the Dutch MSX group Deltasoft where he was lead programmer since 1988. The last productions from his hands are the Snatcher Act 3 extension and the game Oohnograms. You could find Deltasoft on many MSX related events with their easy to spot booths.

As MRC user The Kid, Remy spent a good time on our forums and was quite active in conversations. We have come to know him as a calm individual that was never complaining and was always warm and open hearted to every one else on the forum. He was a loved person, who was kind and always interested in MSX related news.

Remy was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and the disease eventually took his last breath. He died last Tuesday at home at the age of 49 surrounded by his family.

Our hearts are with family and friends. May you rest in peace, Remy.

........ wat moet je daar op zeggen?! Het is confronterend te lezen dat een generatiegenoot veel te jong sterft. Remy was altijd even sociaal en vriendelijk; een fijne gozer die je er goed bij kon hebben in de MSX wereld. Sterkte aan de familie en nabestaanden.

Very, very sad news to hear that Remy has come to pass. He will sorely be missed for the nice guy he was! Condolences to his family and friends for their loss. On fairs we got to know each other as competing bidders on some Konami game auctions. But that basically proved that we just liked the same kind of games. He was fun to talk to and be around. And I like that I have worked with some translations together with him and Rambi and on some other stuff. TheKid was a great guy who made some ambitious projects with Deltasoft for our beloved MSX computer. Great games like Thunderbird, Find It, Lucky Darts, Oh No Grams and a lot of cool demos as well. The MSX world has lost a great person in you.

His coming to pass is saddening and I wish he'd have had a lot more years to enjoy.

Very, very sad news...

I never met Remy in real life, but I got acquainted with him recently. I was lucky to know him alive and bought signed Snatcher Act3 and some other very cool stuff from Deltasoft which I missed before. He's gone and we cannot return him back, but he left huge heritage of his art.

Here is the cool stuff I got from him. It's time to replay all those masterpieces and memorize.

I just learned about Remy's passing. What a terrible news. I wish all his family, friends and the ones that loved him all the strength they need. So sad to loose young people
It now turns out he lived about 5 kilometers from me, just in the next town. That's the weird thing internet can do, you can be on a forum, thinking to be on the other site of the world and be practically neighbors... Have a good last trip Remy.

Damn, I was exchanging emails with him regarding Snatcher Act 3 almost exactly one year ago... Life isn't fair.

Also, what a sad coincidence... my friend Marcos Rosales "Mato#34", former MSX user and famous in Spain for his chaotical writing style in the SD Mesxes fanzine and for his superhero-like performances in user meetings (as Capitán Corbata or as a generic caped one), also passed on a February 8th four years ago, also due to cancer, and also way too young (he was just 43).

I've personly never met Remy, but it's always sad to hear that someone has passed away way too soon in life..
I've noticed he was still very active right till before his passing, that makes me think he was strong and not giving up..
