Almost 10 years after the release of YS V Falcom has announced they will release another episode of the YS Saga, of which the first 3 games were released on MSX as well.

YS VI - The Ark of Napishtim is the first YS game running on a 3D-engine, but from the look of the gameshots Falcom have succeeded in keeping the gameplay intact. YS VI is being developed for Personal Computers running Windows.

That's one of the most interesting game previews I ever saw. Looks very nice! I already know for sure that when that game is released, I will buy a copy.

Also, Falcom has managed to capture true gaming spirit on PC games before. Smile

I have separate original copies of Ys Eternal 1 and 2 and they're really great. It's almost exactly the same game, but graphically it's a lot more detailed. The background music is the same as in the MSX versions, but of course it uses the full strength of the PC audio card (and some audio tracks straight from the CD's).

There are also newer versions of Sorcerian (Sorcerian Forever and another one of which I forgot the title) and of Romancia, by the way.

Falcom music straight from cd rules at least
if it is as good as The dawn of YS, then I will be blown away once again.

If someone is still thinking about makeing a new RPG for the MSX then why not use the trick Falcom did with ys4.
Put it on cd and use Redbook audio when needed (less procesor time) and if you need spoken parts with music then use just something as PSG/FMPAC/MB stereo which is about the quality of YS4 music in the spoken parts. And this works excellent.

I bought my copies in Japan. And there are no English versions yet, but I heard there will be soon, since the game will be distributed in the United States shortly (Ys Eternal, that is).
