I'll say it again, it's cucumber time I reckon' Is such news worthy? I mean, COME ON.
If every song, gfx and idea in process of creating a game has to be a news fact, wtf.

(no offence Reno)

Such a waste of time placing negative comment about something you're not part of.
WWW.MSX.ORG is a fantastic msx site. It keeps people together.
Try to be more appreciative of what you have.
I could spend my whole life commenting newspapers, musicians, web-sites, peoples' actions, activists, governments; but it doent make my life any better.
If the owner of msx.org wishes to shut this web-site, just accept it. Dont Complain.
If the owner of msx.org wishes to change the web-sites background color to pink,
its still HIS choise, not yours. As long as no one gets hurt, then let people do what they do.
Life is too short to waste.
Enjoy !!

Yeah, well. That's the typical comment which can be applied to ALL critisism. "don't bother, just enjoy"... right, still no good argument. But like I said, it's cucumbers that rule these months Wink

(hey, what about posting the SFX I send you as a newsfact, 1 per SFX? neh, don't bother.)

The solution: enhance the frontpage with worklogs, in some corner or column. There the creator can keep a log about what he's doing, if something new's out then simply update the worklog. This is esp. handy for projects where ~ every week something new's to be seen, like in this case.
So, in a way I agree with Ro that it's not really 'news', because you can somehow expect it to come as it's more like a worklog, but otoh I don't really care about it being news either..

I don't see the point of all this fuss, nobody complains when news containing the nth Hackurl's re-mixed re-versioned song arrives; so, what's the reason of underestimate (well, sure no one is underestimating nothing) the fact that two new songs have been made publicy?.
Also, the header could be redacted as "bgMSX update : Two new songs from SM2" and sure it will be considered a real new!.

....and yes, it's cucumber time!, yawn...

I complained about the Hackurl newsfact too earlier, but hell I tent to complain a lot.
all and all it's a nice tune, but indeed only project progress log worthy...

Even though ro said "no offence", the "wtf" was a bit detrimental in trying to bring over his point. I do however agree with him that his is not really news and even though I have never complained about those hackurl "news"postings I also really don't consider those news either.

The only validity for posting "regular" SM2 progress posts would be if they would add something like "And don't forget, SM2 is an open project and if you think you can somehow contribute to it, through code, music or graphics, then feel free to contact the people already working on it.". Still, even then I'd say one newspost per month about it should suffice.

Personnally, I prefer news about future MSX games or demos that will be available for all the MSX community than news about the official Japanese MSX revival, because in this last case, it's reserved to Japan and does not interest really a great part of the MSX community.

So, ro, I don't see where's your problem.

Yes Mars, good point. Say, I've an idea.. let's start an organisation that acts as representive of the Japanese MSX ppl.. is that a nice idea or what?

Guys, guys, guys, is it something in the air? You might have noticed that we have an "If it's MSX news, we post about it" policy for about 6 years now. If a newspost doesn't interest you, then at least have the decency to leave the reactions to those who are interested in it. To norakomi, the feedback given to the music he released are a great motivation to continue developing Space Manbow 2. That alone makes this all more than news-worthy to me. Besides, it's up to the developer to decide, when, how and what he releases, don't you agree?

I for one like the songs a lot and looking at the screenshots I can't wait to actually play the game... RenovatiO, you -will- be demoing it in Bussum, right?

yes indeed, very nice tunes.. the first has some cool detuned effect in the main melody, the second sounds pretty contemporary,
and a lot of things happening in the melody. Big up Smile

>Say, I've an idea.. let's start an organisation that acts as representive of the Japanese MSX ppl.. is that a nice idea or what?

Wolf, the MSX Japanese people have so many sites that 'represent' them (Gigamix for example) and most of them don't even know that MSX is also populair outside Japan, only a very little part of the Japanese MSX fans know MRC and other non-Japanese MSX sites. From my point of view, your idea is very utopic.

And if you speak only about the official MSX Japanese Revival, then you know of course that MSX-Associated is 'represented' by Bazix outside Japan. So, there's already an organisation.

Indeed ! Generally, I don't react if I'm not (enough) interested by a newspost, but in this case, ro's reaction seemed out of proportion, that's why I've reacted by indicating my personal preferences in the news.

For the rest, every MSX fan should be interested by norakomi's progress, especially if he likes games. And a game like Space Manbow 2 is of course very attractive ! Smile

okay, then consider this:
Wouldn't it be spoiling the fun to release tunes, and other stuff, prior to releasing the beast? When the time comes and SM2 sees public light, we're prolly LESS impressed/overwhelmed/surprised 'cuz we've seen and heard 80% of the product already.

This is like the opposite of whatever Wolf and his friends do; completely surprise the crap out of every one with a last minute release.

* I'm with poke, what prog did ya use to make them tunes? musica?

well, certainly this news is MORE interesting than the Project Egg releases, since you know, we can all of course play those. ;P

But still, MRC is very active when it comes to MSX news, and that can't be said from a lot of similar(ish) sites.
