While FIFA World Cup 2010 is over, sd_snatcher is already getting prepared for the next World Cup by releasing a patch for Konami's Soccer. This brand new patch improves the following:

  • Turbofix: The timing routine, allowing the game to be run on with the turbo enabled on supported machines. The turbo will be enabled by default on any machine that has the standard CHGCPU routine on its BIOS (like MSX Turbo R machines).
  • The patch removes some software protection routines to make space for the turbofix routines.

no chance of a fix so that both teams are all sprites and smooth horizontal scrolling?

A smooth horizontal scrooling / sprite fixed version would be really cool!

IMHO this is the best soccer game in MSX, and such improvements would make it even better. Smile

I applied the patch, but when running with Turbo-R GT in openMSX I couldn't notice any speed improvement when playing the game (only when you score, I noticed the player runs faster when celebrating).

Is that the normal behaviour?
