doesnt making something ocm-exclusive defeat the purpose of a msx revival (getting people back to using msx)? or do people really want the ocm to be a next step in the msx evolution?
OCM could be the logical next step after the Turbo R, but IMHO, my beloved Turbo R GT still beats the crap out of every OCM at this moment. I really hope this will change in the near future.

NO!
How could it be an 'evolution' in its purest sense, anyway? It's still emulation.
On the other hand, how could there be any MSX evolution?
Hardware like PlaySoniq and Nowind is the only true form of progression I could think of.
Well, an OCM with some extra possibilities (more speed, extra screen modes, better sound) would propably make me want to consider selling my beloved Turbo R and buying one of these little blue lunchboxes.
But I don't see that happening soon. And why would we need a MSX 3 anyway? Almost no software is available for the Turbo R (let alone the GFX9000 and Z380) so it would be very foolish and naïve to think that a MSX 3 would result in a Tsunami of new good software that takes advantage of the possibilities of that MSX 3.
what about a cartridge that puts a R800 speed into any MSX , and transparently unlike Z380 .
But then it is not for games , what for ?
( i have some idea , but i am just challenging

IMHO:
1) hardware reconfigurable by software
2) open source hardware
already represent a next generation platform... revolutionary as concept and with huge possibilities for developers.
Unfortunately:
1) complex technology requires bigger effort for research and development of new items
2) FPGA size was choosen to reduce costs rather then to allow developers major hardware extensions

Are you talking about something like a sort of external/extended ALU with custom 3D calculation capabilities?
