Hmm... Today's history is a bit short one... (Only 6 entries)
It seems to correspond to news of the same day as today in previous years.
If nothing was announced on 24 january 2005 for example, then the script finds nothing, it seems me correct.
@Jorito , the carriage return situation.
It is 0d 0a under win, linuxers probably post 0a, and to add insult to injury, I think apple is using 0d. But I actually posted with a windows Safari. Maybe it uses same chars as on Mac. Because when pressing "edit", they were visible in the edit field, but not in html rendering.
It is like stealth carriage return in the database not getting rendered in html. Putting the posting into Internet Explorer, pressing "backspace + carriage return" does fix it.
I know how CRLF works, that's not the issue.
The issue is that the WYSIWYG editor we use (CKeditor, together with TinyMCE the most popular WYSIWYG available) doesn't play nice with all the nifty markup you guys make. I could look at your suggestion, but as CKeditor is a complicated third party component, I fear we have to wait till they release an update...

The Spotlight section is an excellent idea, also the removing of left sidebar on the front page.
You are welcome
Now let's hear it for all the new bugs I managed to create in the process
Just tweaked the anti SPAM settings a bit to be less strict. This should result in less captchas!
However, if this will give us SPAM again, we will reset this setting back to its normal value. Let's wait and see.

messages edited/send with my phone (nokia C6-00) are not displayed, as can be seen... maybe you can check if these messages are stored in the database, but not displayed?
I also filed it as moderater alert
Hmm, Jorito could you change the posted/updated time column (frontpage leftmost column) to list ones that were done in the last 24hrs as "time", instead of resetting them to "date" at midnight?
for example a wiki update done at ~23:30 was reset to 10-02, 30 minutes later
