I don''t like it. It's getting to distracting with all the avatars. On the forumpost, you still need to go to the forums, as you cannot easily see what you missed. Displaying the last post does not change that. It gets more confusing...
Also, I used to be able to take a peek on screen what the latest wikichanges were, and now I have to scroll down. On 1200 height screens, it just falls of, on 1080px even more so...
Also, the short texts aren't working for me. I always want to now what should be in place of the ..., however, when you go the the article, you get a different text...
The smaller text is the teaser, which we actually have to invent/type - so that's why it's a different text.
Thanks for your feedback. Let me chime in as well:

Too bad you don't like it. We'll see how it works out if more people feedback.
About missing stuff on the forums, you now can check the checkbox whenever you comment on a topic to receive e-mails when a topic is updated. That definitely beats scanning the frontpage or the forums

Ahhhh, the age old conflict between wanting a lot of information but not wanting to scroll Nothing we can do about that, apart from accepting that scrolling isn't evil and that sites where the frontpage actually fits on 1 screen are extremely rare.
There is a lot of information to display, and we have to make choices on what goes where. These are our current choices, maybe they'll change again, I dunno.

You mean for the news articles? Read Wolf_'s explanation for that. As for forum posts, you should click down to the page the latest comment is on. That's not working?
A way for less scrolling is Firefox + AdBlockPlus + Element Hiding Helper, as you can then 'remove' (actually hide) some parts of the website, for example the slideshow
I'd prefer having the old request of seeing which topics I already read on the front page... The way I use MRC is like this: I open the MRC tab, look at the lastest time I see an update of, then refresh the page and see if there's something new.
Although I was enthusiastic at first, I prefer such feature much more, as it's really what I'm looking for. The frontpage was good enough for me. And yes, it's getting a bit long now, I didn't have to scroll down first. But I may just get used to it.
I enabled the "what's new for me?" feature on the forums a while back, but had to disable it again as it slowed down the site quite a bit. Maybe such a feature will be added again, but it won't be soon.

I'm more a lurker than a poster. What you're suggesting that I should post more . I don't post if I don't have anything usefull to say (in my opinion, that is), but wouldn't a subscription to a thread be more useful then?

I never said scrolling is evil. I believe however that the most important information should be available fast. You had that. And then you starting adding extra texts and avatars, which, for me, has a negative impact

I do indeed mean for the news articles. However, there is more text than what is displayed on the frontpage (you can see it when hovering over it, but perhaps I'm getting older: the hovers disappear to fast), and that text isn't displayed when opening the newsitem itself. To be honest: It didn't bother me with the spotlight, but here it does bother me. Probably because it attracts more attention.
As for the forum posts: Yes, that's working, but adding the latest on the frontpage post doesn't add anything, except more clutter, and (but that's my humble opinion) a less "crisp" frontpage. I honestly don't know the english equivalent for "een strakke website", but I think the former version was "strakker".
I don't like it.
Ok, I'll say something a little more substantial. It is a lot of wasted space and extra visual clutter for something that provides very little extra information. The clutter is the worst bit. You're actually looking at it for a while trying to work out what you're seeing. If you want to display a few extra tidbits about the post, I suggest using the tooltip instead.
Argh. As if the homepage wasn't cluttered enough...
So... In the mood of the internet, the people that don't like something are quite vocal. Are there actually any people that like the new frontpage? Please let us know!
