Excellent, thank you Smile

Right... 4 x 18 pins to de-solder and 4 x 18 pins to solder...

Long evening ahead it seems Wink

I would just cut the pins close to the chip's casing and then desolder pins by gently pulling them from the other side. This does not damage the board as much as the attempt to desolder the whole chip...

Hey Folks,

I have some great news to report Smile The MSX2 is now fully working!!! After a couple of hours of de-soldering/soldering, cleaning, it's now all back in working order.

Here are a few pics of the procedure and a little gameplay video Smile

I did a capture in Composite, I will try the RGB cable tomorrow, for now I just had to play Wink Thank you very much for all your invaluable help, I couldn't have done without the nice people in this forum!!! I learned a lot about this machine and I hope it'll last for very long Smile

De-soldering the old chips...

Soldering the new chips...

All done :)

All back together and operational :)

And now the end result!!!

Clean resoldering here! Desoldering is often the most tricky part. Did you use a solder pump or absorbing/fiber thing (don't know the english name for that) ?

It's called "desoldering pump" and that's the great tool. But you have to keep it clean and lubricated so it sucks well. Big smile

Congratz on fixing your computer! Always nice to have more of them alive. Smile

Yes, you need to keep certain things (and sometimes - people) clean and lubricated so they could work well. Wink
