Back in the day you could buy special computer targeted tapes, of 5, 10 or 15 minutes. That's a lot more convenient than 60 or 90 minutes...

Note that TDK D60 is the low segment of tapes, just ferro (type I), just like the computer tapes.

I also believe getting blank tapes may be quite difficult these days, not to mention the tape recorder. I understand why you want to achieve your goal, though. But I believe you might get bored / annoyed with the tapes quite soon, with head alignment adjustement issues, worn mechanical parts etc

So, especially in case you can not find a tape recorder (or empty/spare tapes), you might want to consider something else. Really any device that can output something lossless (or lossy with enough bitrate) will suffice. I burned CDs back in the day, and used a CD walkman, when I still wanted to load games trought the tape interface (and, as posted elsewhere, I went into the trouble of putting different programs on left and right channels!). Nowadays I'd probably use some tablet for the same job.

Btw., was / is there an adroid app that will decode .cas files on-the-fly, so that wasting storage space by storing WAVs / MP3s is not needed?

i appreciate it. I have 1 tape recorder here and another on the way from ebay. i have a laptop and a phone (downloaded tapdancer thanks for the recommendation!) Im just trying to show the kids how things used to be. and some patience hopefully.
