It seems like most of the .CAS files i am getting dont want to work on my HB-F1XDJ. is there any compatibility issue that i am not aware of or an I just not doing it correctly? (launching from sofarun2.3 if that helps, MFRscc+512k also)

CAS files are "emulated" using SofaRun / LOADCAS. It might work a bit better with next version of SofaRun (giving choice between LOADCAS & LOADCASX), but it will never be 100% (emulation program has to stay in RAM, games are overwriting it or breaking the slot configuration...). That's the main reason I added the option to write file back to real tape (also to be released in SofaRun 2.5).

makes perfect sense, and this is why directly after your 2.5 preview video, I went out and got 2 tape recorders and 14 tapes. I know cassettes are a pain in the butt, however these games will be worth it! Thank you again for all of your work to make things better!

It's probably worth mentioning that a number of cassette games written for the MSX1 simply won't work on a 2+ due to slot layouts.

Any particular games you were looking to run?

I was looking to hook my kids up Batman. I tried this also in OpenMSX with an F1XDJ and it also basically halted during the load. I tried it with a HB-101 and it worked perfectly. so it is definitely an MSX2+ issue. some of the cassette games work, but a vast majority will not. No worries though, now I know the issue. I basically got the tape recorder for saving in metal gear (yes I know there is a DSK saving rom also) . now ill just have to convince my wife that I need an MSX/MSX2 haha Wink

Have you tried typing "the magic poke" before running the game?

poke-1,(15-peek(-1)\16)*17

A lot of non-working games tend to work after this Smile

BTW: What Batman are you trying to run? The isometric one, or 'batman the movie'? If its the isometric one, I just loaded a disk version on an emulated 2+ without problems after typing the poke above Smile
