I might be in Tokyo in a couple of days and I recall that some people here managed to get some MSX stuff in Akihabara, any recommendations on which shops to check? Smile

Ooh. I've been to Beep (which is basically a haven for Japanese microcomputers and software), but never Kaden no Ken... I don't think, anyway. That's definitely going on the list for my next time in Japan!

You can also find *some* MSX stuff at Super Potato, as well as -- if memory serves -- some of the shops that typically sell new games. I can't remember if it was Gamers or Animate, but I think one of them had a floor of retro games (unless I'm getting it confused with Super Potato), and I bought a few pretty decent MSX games from there back in October (cartridge-only Murder on the Mississippi, and a complete-in-box copy of Return of Ishtar).

It's also worth checking out Hard-Off. It's unlikely they'll have anything MSX there, but there's always a chance.

Nakano Broadway is amazing. I would recommend visiting there regardless, as it's just a truly unusual shopping experience. You feel kind of like you're in a Shin Megami Tensei dungeon full of bizarre collectibles. Wink

Well, just FYI, Nakano Broadway is its own thing -- it's not in Akihabara, it's in... erm... Nakano. Heheh.

But it's cheap and easy to get to by train from Akihabara, and totally worth it. Especially since it seems to be open a bit later than a lot of places in Akihabara, so you can kill most of the day in Akiba, then pop over to Nakano for some weirdness.

Little advice - despite the indicated working ours, Beep opens later in a day. A very weird shop.
I was disappointed by the attitude of the guys in the shop. They don't give a damn about anything and the most frequently phrase is "not for sale". Computers are 3x more expensive then on the net. But it worth it for the cartridges.
