Thanks for sharing, interesting they used a different type of connector...
I guess this detail makes them incompatible with MSX machines.
Btw, look at the pictures I've added here: https://www.msx.org/wiki/Daewoo_CMS-120
the SV-605B was sold in two versions. (with two FDD or more rarely one FDD and one HDD). The SV-605C is probably a mistake. What about the ref. SV-608M?
Do not take the advertisements literally because Spectravideo made several mistakes in it.
well, you could just move it to the M5X Related Hardware part (I had hesitated between both sections
What is the relation between Spectravideo SVI-609 and MSX?
You can use MSX computers with the SVI-609. It is designed for that, just like you can use MSX software with the CCG MSX Adapter For SVI-328.
It is even more MSX Related than the "Mr.PC Keyboard of MSX' where the MSX is only used as keyboard on NEC machines.
This is just a machine expansion with a interface that can communicate and share files with the MSX among others. It not a hardware made especialy for MSX or to use MSX hardware on another machine. So it should not be put in wiki pages for MSX. If we put all the machines that can communicate in a network with the MSX, the list will be endless and will not make sense.
Mr.PC Keyboard is a device was made for MSX by cons.
You forget one important thing: Spectravideo has released SVI-609, 709 and 809 at the same time. It is clearly a SVI/MSX concept. It would be different if they had released only the 609 and the 809, it would have been a full SVI concept, even if a MSX fan would have created the MSX interface later.
The goal is not to list all the machines that can communicate with MSX, but you can't ignore the SVI/MSX concept of Spectravideo, which has by the way missed a nice opportunity to be the first to release a real MSX2 as Master Station with 128kB RAM (corresponding to the SVI-328 64kB RAM + SVI-609 64kB RAM) and a 10MB hard disk drive.
Can Nyyrikki give his opinion about that?
A explanation on the SVI-709 page is enough. SCSI disks can also be share a bit the same way. We will also not indicate the SCSI interfaces of other machines in the wiki for this reason. It's the same for SVI-609 and 809. They have no place in this page.
Understandable although the Spectravideo case plays with the limits of this approach (not only here, but also with the SVI-838). A privilege of the MSX Grand Father!
