It's because you removed the spaces that are used to center the characters, isn't. Also, you replaced the purple color with orange when I had chosen the colors to keep the same tone by mode (white for none, yellow for Kana key or pink Graph key + cyan when Shift is pressed).

Thanks. They are indeed nice. Unfortunately I'm not sure Windows can use glyphs numbered above 0xffff. The browsers seem to ignore them, and the Character Map app also doesn't go above 0xffff. No biggie, though. Just wanted to report.

It can, or emojis wouldn’t work. 👍

There are a lot of glyphs in the upper Unicode ranges nowadays, Windows can definitely handle it. A little bit of faith in Microsoft 😃.

Orange ones are KANA+SHIFT, not GRAPH+SHIFT so it has to be clear there is a difference. With the spaces it did not look any better. Basically KANA has 3 subsets and 2 modifier keys (both CAPS and SHIFT).

🤔 You're right, indeed. It's just some weirdness then. 😅 Thanks for clarifying! 😉

It's better centered.

Green ones are KANA+CAPS, but you seem to know everything better even if you don’t have the hardware we are talking about. Japanese machines behave different from French and International. KANA+CAPS gives different result than KANA+SHIFT. Which I wrote many times now. Good luck with the page, I am done…

To make this more complicated there is even KANA+CAPS+SHIFT which gives the smaller katakana versions of the characters now in purple.

Yes, see the combinations listed here: https://github.com/openMSX/openMSX/blob/master/share/unicode... (for JIS for instance).

It's not a good idea to have separate registers from the "MSX2+" VDP because there are MSX2+ specificities in other registers. The fact of having separated these 3 registers gives the impression that these are the unique specificities of the V9958.
