The RBSC group presents its new cartridge platform for private and commercial use. It is called MMC - the "Multi-Mapper Cartridge" platform. We can license this platform to game shops and software distributors as well as to individual game developers. We can also offer small batches of cartridges to be assembled manually and sold to those who need them. The factory-based assembly is also possible, but only for larger batches only - minimum 100 cartridges in one order. The MMC cartridge contains an Altera CPLD chip and, depending on the version, a 512 kilobyte or 2 megabyte FlashROM chip. The following mappers are supported:
- Konami 4
- Konami 5 SCC
- ASCII 8
- ASCII 16
The cartridge also supports the "planar" mode in which a 64kb image will be fully loaded into the slot (for example Painter). The 48kb games that don't require any mapper can also be used in this mode (for example Hans, Zombie Outbreak, etc.).
In Konami 5 there's no SCC sound output from the cartridge - it only runs the game. This cartridge can't be used for games that require SRAM or other additional feature of the cartridge to work, but it runs pretty much everything else including Metal Gear 2.
The cartridge is easily reprogrammable from MSX-DOS with the FL16 utility. There is write protection available to avoid accidental game erasure. The cartridge fits into a Korean case, but I provide no such cases for sale. Below you can find the picture from the official document that each buyer will get from me.
I am asking for 33 euros for each cartridge and 7 euros for worldwide shipment. The PayPal fee should be paid by the buyer if he decides to use the "pay for goods and services" payment option. Please contact me if you are interested.
