So i Recently got myself a Japanese Panasonic FS-A1 and when im in BASIC im unable to use the english characters. i have not had this issues on any of my other japanese machines, is there a button combination or something i need to press to swicth between the English QWERTY layout and the japanese letters? I mean the keyboard has the qwerty letters printed big on them so its a bit odd to me..

The machine came with alot of modifications ( seperate thread on these ) But one was a switch to ignore the built in software and go directly to basic, i dont think this would effect language but thought id mention it..

Also wanted to ask if its possible to change the ROM out for the Toshiba FS-TM1 ( English version of same machine) to get the software in english. Where could i find these roms? Is it one of these?

Actually i just realized that im not stuck on japanese text, im stuck on the secondary "graphics" characters, like hearts, spades, circles, blocks and so on.. i have tried every button combination i can think of but cant get out of it..

How do you usually activate / deactivate these?

My Panasonic FS-A1 starts in Ronaji (Alphabetic characters) mode as all other Japanese MSX. I have to press the Kana key to put the Japanese characters (it's not practical without LEDs). Your MSX has a issue somewhere.

Your graph key might be stuck.
