Is there any log to detect why openMSX does not start?
I have a netbook previously with lubuntu and now with Windows 7 where openMSX shows momently a window and then closes. No error, no message in console, nothing.
I don't remember wich version was installed in lubuntu, but an old one. In windows 7, I've installed 0.15.0 and I have the same behaviour. Maybe a video card or sound card incompatibility?
Do you have any roms installed, either the CBIOS or real MSX roms?
Perhaps use the -machine parameter to set a machine type you definitely have installed.
Also, on Linux you can try to do an strace of the process, that sometimes helps to understand why a program exits or crashes.
Strange that your getting the same problem on two operating systems. Did you copy your profile over, or is it a clean install? On Linux you can try to rename your profile directory ~/.openMSX and try to restart to exclude that from issues. Another thing is that on Linux if your filesystem is full you can get unexpected behaviour.
Also, where did you install from? Did you use apt to install or did you compile yourself? Do you get any output when you try to start it from a terminal window? Once again strace may help to understands why it exists so quickly.
