If using the installer try to install to another location, don't use C:\Program Files
It may have been caused by a recent Windows update with stricter security rules.
What graphics card are you using, and are your graphic drivers up-to-date?

Everything works fine for me using:
openmsx-17.0-rc1-windows-vc-x64-bin.zip (2021-04-08 21:57)
extracted to it's own folder on my D drive (D:\Games\MSX\OpenMSX)

Windows 10, 64 bit, 16GB, Nvidia GTX 1080 (Drivers 461.72)

@Zandig Yes, came to my mind too...

Otherwise you can try to unzip & run into a folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%

I also wonder about the

Application
PC-GAME

part I see in Murilo's post. @Murilo: you're running Windows 8?

One thing to try is to run with the SDL renderer (only): openmsx -command "set renderer SDL"

I created a folder here: C: \ OpenMSX
now OpenMSX doesn't even open, it got worse, nothing happens Sad

My specification:
Windows 10 Pro - 64 bit, Version: 21H1 - Compilation: 19043.906
RTX 2060 - Drivers 465.89
8 Gb

I'm a Windows insider Beta tester, maybe I have a Windows update that won't let OpenMSX work?
If so, when you release the version everyone will have the same problem

I already tried to open it from the command line and the same thing happens, is that what you are suggesting? I also tried to run the program directly, without the installer, it also didn't work

I did the following test:
I installed it on my work Notebook , I ran it a few times and it worked perfectly.
So I copied the OpenMSX folder that was generated in my documents and the OpenMSX folder that was generated when installing in C:

I deleted the folders on my PC and copied, the result: nothing happened, it remains the same.

So as it is opening again (only the first time) I did another test:
I clicked on OpenMSx under files / test new machine (something like that) and it's been running the test since last night.
In the taskbar I see that it is not bugged, but it is very, very slow.

Does OpenMSX create any entries in the Windows registry? (I don't have any Windows machine, so, I am not sure) but if it does, then maybe that's messed up, and just copying an install from one machine to another by copying the content of the folder might not be enough.

Yes, I did the installation, then I copied the files over it, my idea was that when it runs the first time it creates some files in the "documents" folder, I thought it could be something there, but it is not

I wasn't talking about the "documents" folder, I'm talking about the internal Windows registry. The thing that you edit with the "regedit" app (the last time I touched a Windows machine it was in the Windows XP era, but I believe "regedit" is still present in Windows 10).

I believe only Catapult uses the registry.

(Also going on that log,) perhaps some Application Compatibility thing?

Another thing you could try is creating a new user, login with that, try openMSX zip.
