The classic tile matching game brought to you by Under4Mhz. Match the tile pairs until all the tiles have been removed.

Mahjong is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. While it is commonly played by four players, this MSX version is a single player edition.
Any tile must have a left or right side open in order to be selected for matching. Play until no more matches are possible or until all the tiles have been cleared.

Contestants have until the end of August to submit their entries. If you are enjoying this MSXdev game, why not consider donating to the prize money. 100% of the donations will go to the game developers.

The MSXdev21 contest runs from Jan 1st to Sep 1st, 2021.

WOW! I love Mahjong. Spent countless hours on Windows 3.11 version of this game.
Very good use of the 9918 limitations!

Is there a "hint" shortcut?

It looks like I became stuck.
Does the game warn when there is no more pairs available to match?

I already found that the "X" key reveals partially hidden tiles.

Oh, I forgot one detail: "season" tiles (Autumn, winter, summer, spring) matches any other season tile.

That's actually a good hint. For the rest, thanks for the solitary slow-chat, guy. Smile

No, just kidding. Good to see that it's being appreciated. The creator must think so as well.
If it means anything (even if I must not say it as an organizer) - it looks really impressive for MSX1, and I have never played any Mahjong game for as long as I did this one.
That says something, as there are enough more advanced Mahjong games around to play on MAME where you can see pixelated girls and stuff. Those never really caught my attention, but this one did, because the gameplay and graphics are absolutely, totally solid. Wonderful job.

Kkkkkk.

Being on Brazil means my "normal" hours are during sleep of most MRC users (Europe). So, I'm used to have my messages replied only the following day, except for some folks on USA (a few guys).

Wow, what an entry again! Great to see such classic cool and cool game brought to MSX!! I like the way you have managed to do this. Cool to see these tiles with these limited amount of pixels / very well done with the graphics. Congratulations! (for whole of the game) Welcome addition to the Dev Cool

It would be cool an MSX 2 Mahjong:

-Screen 7 interlaced (512x424 16 colors)
-palette for 16 colors:
-----black and white
-----6 shades of gray (or beige)
-----2 blue
-----2 red
-----2 green
-----2 for other colors

So many ideas, so few time... Crying

Sorry to take the topic off topic, but...

albs_br: Super Shanghai Dragon's Eye is screen 7. If you are not talking about the solitaire ones, but regular Mah jong there probably is on in screen 7.

Thanks @Randam.

I have played this game dozens of times and there was a couple times I became stuck, but the game haven't ended with the message "No more moves".

Here are the WebMSX savestates, maybe the author would use it for debugging:

Hope that helps.

Are there any plans to implement mouse support?

Other question: is this game open source?

Have you seen this message?

Me too I hope an option to support the mouse. There is a ASM routine in the wiki.
