Question about emulators:

Which is currently the best emulator suited to run some simulations on hardware being developed?

By this I mean easy plugin-architecture or scripting and most importantly good documentation on how to proceed.

I believe this will help me shorten the development time of the diskrom enormously.

Probably the 1ChipMSX , but It is probably missing some features like plug-in's ...

I;m not a developer, but personally I like OpenMSX a lot and BlueMSX ain;t bad as well.

My favorite is BlueMSX www.bluemsx.com

I'm also not an MSX developer .. dot.net is not a problem ;)

That was my point: if you make hardware compatible with 1chipMSX implementation OR Sharksym's v2.2 OR Padial's interface, you can simply skip writing a diskROM & people already know how to use it. If you make your own, incompatible design, you're either creating something that has 'no' software support (no working diskROM), or you're getting yourself into a big, troublesome job on the software side. Believe me, putting a reliable working diskROM together is not a piece of cake... BA-team You said you wanted to keep things simple?

If nothing else: the hardware is programmable, right? As in: people might re-program an included FPGA? (to implement Sharksym's or 1chipMSX design).

Trying to figure out how other hardware works AND their software(+Hacks) would take much more time.
I know already how my hardware works. so that leaves me with just software.

Besides that it is also not possible to use existing software because my design is so very different.

It contains RAM so the diskrom actually becomes diskram so special consideration and operation is required.

You said you wanted to keep things simple?
The simple part is accessing the SD-interface from your own application/game/basic program.
It is not a DOS-only hardware.
You can for instance use my 'simple' code to run your game from the SD-interface without any call to DOS.
Just compile your core-program to rom-format, upload it to the hardware, reboot ...and voilá

This way it becomes expensive

And Sunrise interface already run most of the CP/M library (at least it works on BlueMSX when using the IDE240.DAT file) ...

Yes that was the question.
But there was no challenge for me in just building a slot-expander.
Remember this is a hobby of mine not my job so it has to be *CHALLENGING* and *FUN* for me otherwise I wont be motivated to continue.

and what do you mean by expensive? The total cost of the components for the SD-interface is about 15 euro's(even less when buying bulk).
