Dave Murray's Planet X series born in 8-bit computers like the VIC-20 (Planet X1) or C64 (Planet X2) so they must be doable without most worries in a MSX machine.
There's a lot of info in his channel.
Can't get the RTS game idea out of my head, an RTS game for MSX would be pretty cool! What RTS games are your favorite and would like to see a game like that on MSX?
- There's the standard modern "Dune II" style that prevails nowadays,
- but there's also Z (which I thought was awesome, and might be more feasible in MSX since there's less units in the map on that type of game)
The assets for both Dune2 and Z are available on the internet (I have them for both games).
Z was designed for high resolution (I think min 800x600) so the units are 32x32 and the buildings are much bigger than that. They appear small on a PC, but in screen5 they would be way too big, and also the palette something like 48 colors.
Dune2 is more doable, as proven by Dome prototype.
I mean, the assets are there; putting together a proof of concept to see how many units the VDP can lift with collision detection and stuff is a matter of a few days.
Xal 3
Vampire Killer 2 (based on Castlevania 2)
Lemmings
Terra Cresta
Monkey Island
Puyo Puyo (with battle mode)
Roadland
Parasol Stars
Toki
Oh wow, that "Dome" looks very promising! Too bad it wasn't finished! Grauw, you should totally pick up Strategic Army once you finish your current RPG game!!
Also, cool to know that all the assets for Z and Dune 2 are available! I would still be more interested in an original game though. Maybe inspired on those games, but not a port (not very interested in ports). But having those assets is cool for inspiration in any case!

You'd make my day.
Then add the original OPL2 FM music, played on the OPL4 (should be simple). And I'm against the ROOF!
A sequel to Blade Lords.
As for Puyo Puyo, perhaps a more elaborate versus with fever mechanics would be nice
Or at the very least an implementation of the Puyo Puyo 2 offset ruleset, which basically became the standard for the rest of the series!
We must comply with the term "Can it run Doom" so MSX definitely needs to have it or at least MSX2. Even ZX Spectrum had that
