And even closer to Doom is Nyyrikki's hack on Tales of Popolon, where he added a gun item, and some doom-like rotating fan backgrounds https://youtu.be/4MSga7mge5w?t=60 (start watching at minute 1)
As for Puyo Puyo, perhaps a more elaborate versus with fever mechanics would be nice
Or at the very least an implementation of the Puyo Puyo 2 offset ruleset, which basically became the standard for the rest of the series!
+1
Rainbow Islands. I good version of that would be awesome.
A nice city building emulator. Something like sc2000. Would propably only run on turbo-r though...

There was Construction Craze (yet again by Paragon), but that didn't quite scratch that itch.
And I might be misremembering, but wasn't Edwin at some point working on something like that?
Construction Craze was nice .

And very doable on MSX2 since it only scrolls vertically!
The rainbows could be tiles in screen 4.

Maybe it is doable on MSX1 too. Vertical scrolling on Rainbow Island doesn't need to be very smooth, I think. A Magical Tree like scrolling is enough, imho
And, due to the relatively low quantity of tiles involved, maybe it could be done with a 2pixel preshifted tiles scrolling. C64 version hasn't a really fine scrolling, and rainbows are tiles too
Given what they did with the Amstrad version I was hoping Rainbow Islands on MSX too. An Enhanced MSX2 version would be good too.
