No need R800 to do better than the NES. The V9990 is 10 times better than the NES VDP.
If you need R800 and V9990 anyway you might as well use them. But yes, Z80 with V9990 is more than enough to beat the NES. Just add in SCC or OPLL for better sound too.
Personally, I'd also prefer to see a good port using MSX capabilities.
if I want to run emulate NES software, I'll do it on my PC or phone. It would still be a great technical achievement though.
Good ports of even higher standards like the Ghosts 'n Goblins one are something I like too. But porting games individually takes quite a bit of time. With an emulator like this you could suddenly play all kinds of games in one go. So that is why I like this project.
Doesn't mean that I wouldn't applaud good ports or even improvements upon games (break shot is on famicom for instance or castlevania 2 and 3 to name a few)...
Yes but the v9990 is not sufficient for this kind of project. It would take an extension especially for the sound.
Well, maybe opl4 or other sound carts could be used for that, I don't know.
I wonder when this is going to be released. To be honest, I'm an NES coder for SNES, PC Engine, and GBC myself. NES games are good and so does MSX.
