Received today, very well packaged Smile.

However, I can’t get it to work. When plugged into the Yamaha CX5MII I hear the PSU and cassette relays click, and the computer doesn’t boot. Plugged into the Zemmix Neo it does boot, however the game I plugged in doesn’t play. Everything works fine with my MK slotexpander.

Does it need a power supply to function? Or could it be defective? (Does the other one behave similarly?)

Thanks,

Hi Grauw,

If I remember correctly I only used it with a power supply.
There was something with a on circuit board switch (bridgepin) you could switch between internal power or external power.

Maybe someone has a manual, back then I could not find (read Smile2 ) one.

I received a 10V adapter today, and now it works like a charm!

Thanks for the tips! Very happy with it, many thanks for selling Smile.

Some findings; I did see two sets of markings on the board for where jumpers could be placed, maybe that’s it but I won’t be trying it out ;p.

I heard a story from Manuel where he connected a PSU to his (Gouda?) slotexpander and it would boot up his MSX, powering it through the cartridge slot! Kinda scary Smile. I think most slotexpanders with optional external power will do this, but it seems better to avoid that. I think it explains why the NEOS EX-4 doesn’t work without power, making it work both with and without would be kind of tricky to do in a safe way.

Another finding is, the "PSU relay" click I reported earlier wasn’t actually from the PSU but is coming from the slotexpander itself (which was laying on top of the PSU ;p). The relay probably disconnects the power from the slots when the MSX is turned off so the cartridges can safely be removed.
