Crazy work !! Eugeny_Brychkov !! how cool that you created the hardware and the software! I love to oder this piece of hardware .. hope it would be possible in the future!

Thanks, I am almost done with hardware part. First one was with CPLD, but then we decided to go with FPGA to have some more useful functionality. Now I have FPGA-based proto, and you can see at the end of the video it has some changes... I will need one more thing to try - I will replace 16-bit R2R DAC with DAC chip to see if it will improve audio quality @ low level of sound. Then I think hardware design can be finalized, made and distributed.
Meanwhile you can ask here info on the device, and send me emails if you are interested in getting the one.

As I've almost lost all hope of getting my NoWind interface one day, this looks super cool !! (I'd really like to have something to exchange files between PC and MSX without exchanging SD card).

How does the SCC part work?

Also, how did you get the idea to put a DAC on a network card??

Manuel, I did not care much about if my SCC implementation matches real SCC, I just designed circuitry within FPGA which performs required functions. Every system clock cycle circuit performs specific operations - giving data back to CPU if it requests it, modifying counters and assembling digital representation of the output signal. That appeared to be really easy to implement given we know which result we want to get and how hardware works. And taking this chance I again want to thank BiFi for his pages on mappers and SCC in particular, and him answering my questions in chat.
Timer functionality was actually requested by one of our colleague (can not find the MRC thread) when I have already completed HBI232 MKII and it was too late to make changes to it. Thus here we go with it in this device.
DAC is just required for any music/sound play. Currently I have R2R DAC, but I will try DAC in silicon and then decide which I will keep.

DAC chip tested. You even do not imagine how 16-bit SCC sounds. I would call it "fantastic"... Not to mention PCM sound.

16-bit SCC sounds oO
I hope to hear this soon.
Great work Eugeny !

FYI: I publish updates in LinkedIn and twitter. Connect if you want to receive information from me.
Board is almost finished. After conversation with Fabf I decided to use 5 unused pins left from R2R DAC removal for Micro-SD card interface. I will see if I can make hardware-accelerated access to the SD-card.
