Since this is an MSX1, I assume your talking about Bubbler from Ultimate Play the Game. There are a bunch of games with Penguin in the title, but the most famous is Penguin Adventure from Konami.

Have a look at www.generation-msx.nl.

You may also want to give the openmsx emulator a try in case you want to play some old games without having to load them onto the Toshiba. You can even try later MSX games meant for the MSX2, 2+ and TurboR that way.

Regarding the cassette, you can use a PC or Android phone to play back cassette images if you hook it up to the MSX cassette port. Have a look for MSX2Cas or tapDancer on the Google play store.

Thank you very much for the info!
I managed to play some old games using my Android phone.
What would be the easiest way to load software to my Toshiba using a Windows PC?

You can use Caslink3 project to convert ROM images to audio files and then you can play them back to your Toshiba via PC's sound card. Just make sure that you disable all sound optimizations and equalizers on PC.

If you look at this you can get a CASDuino which acts just like a Cassette player but uses an SD Card. It also has motor control which gives it an advantage over Tapdancer or MSX2CAS. If you want to load ROMS I just use CASLink3 and convert them to WAV and then use WAV2CAS.

That looks great! Can I buy one? How much are they? This is because unfortunately after about SEVEN MONTHS now I still have no way of saving data from my Yamaha CX5M.

32 years ago... I started 31.5 years ago or something when MSX2 just got introduced. You quit around that time... You've missed quite some evolution then

Unfortunately CASDuino doesn't do saves yet. We are working on it though.

If you live in the UK Argos have a brand new cassette recorder that should work with the MSX and even has the REM socket for motor control.

This is great news! First of all I'll try a cassette head cleaner tape from Maplins, because it's cheaper, though. One way or another I'll soon be composing some more music on my CX5M. Now I just need to get a copy of the FM Voicing Program on cartridge.
