I got all 3 of those from Jetze in 2009. Still have them...
These are eject buttons.
Eject? Like a floppy disk?
What happens when you eject a cart when the system is on? Is there some safety measure?
@ Pentarou yes, Yamahas YIS series has hardware protection when you insert or remove cartridge when system is on (YIS503 and YIS805 for sure, but i guess other YIS as well)
I think that this hardware protection works only with the special cartridge cases. Otherwise the power-off switch will not be triggered when the eject button is pressed. At least that's my experience.
I think it depends of is the SW1 and SW2 shortcircuited or not, not on the cartridge case itself
It has some metal brace near the middle of cartridge slot hole so cartridge is pushing a switch when you insert cartridge, and if there's no cartridge when you push on it - computer turns the power off. we used those with YIS-503IIR at school instead of reset button because reset button is at back side and inserting finger to slot was more handy
i suppose the whole circuit works together with signals SW1 and SW2 on cartridge to turn power on when cart is completely inserted and visa versa. i have the front small pcb from 805 with two slots on it (bought cheap by occasion) though when i go to Kiev i can take pictures so you can check if that's true, because i only had a brief look. i personally prefer to turn off computer still, because it may become dangerous habit incompatible with other computers ;) f.e. Wavy 70FD don't have any protection...
In honor of the coming new year, Christmas and my birthday price is reduced!
The price is valid until January 15.
Well, it is the 15th and I was just curious what will happen...
Happy Birthday Trikselion!
Hello,
i just only say that i have 3x Yamaha YIS-805
I have this RUS edition
i have this JPN edition also 128 and 256 ram.
THX,
Mika
I also have 2 Russian YIS-805 now. One has been converted to MSX2+ already (256kb RAM + port F4 + FMPAC) and the new video board is being made for it as we speak. Today I will solder the CXA1645 chip onto it and test it. The Russian machines have the simple video boards with black and white composite video, the new board will add color composite video and good quality S-Video outputs.
The video boards and the adapter boards for installing F4/FMPAC combo board into the YIS-805 will be available for sale soon.
