I'd say that a solid Photoshop plugin to make conversions to MSX (SC 2 and/or SC 4) would be really handy, with different options: plain colours, dithering, etc. Anyone?

@Pitpan: Such a plugin would be cool! I only use Photoshop for my 8bit gfx and can imagine about a lot of functions which would make things more easy.

it's something I'll add to Polka2 (for which I hopefully get some time after this whole MSXDev craze is over, MSXDev is such a time-waste regarding my originally planned ideas Hannibal ). I already have color-reduction/matching working, so I will be loading typical images, including features like 'add dither', per colorcomponent perhaps. Also with different (useful) ditherpatterns.

As I said in another thread, I just use PSP7 (yes, I know it's outdated, but it was the last version with good interface AFAIK - and I know my way around it pretty well to spend time learning a different tool to do almost everything it does), and then I convert the BMP files to the output format I want (I already draw everything how I want them to appear, so adjusts are usually minimum by the converters)

I used to be a great fan of T&E Soft's AGE (aka DDGraph) and GraphSaurus (mostly for screen 7). But nowadays I just use photoshop. I open up a 256x256 window draw 16 blocks of 8x8 size and put them at the top. Then I fill these blocks using solid colors I'd like to use so that I have a nice and quick color picker Wink Short-keys do the trick... Cool

The greatest tool I have ever seen is bmp2msx (http://www5d.biglobe.ne.jp/~hra/software/bmptomsx/index.htm).
Unfortunately, it doesn't run with Mac OS X.
Antialiasing and such things are nowadays impossible to realise with a MSX without losing your sight (though I like Graph Saurus 2 a lot !!)

One thing that I clearly miss is a decent 3D vector drawing program. You know... software where you can place dots to X, Y & Z-coordinates, then enter to mode where you can connect the dots with lines and last option to save your work to text or similar "easy to read" file format with dot & line information.

I remember that long time a go I used some program that was pretty close (for MSX2). I think it was named "3D studio" or something like that. Unfortunately this program was slow and buggy, but it has been best that I've seen. Great bonus was that it had even possibility to enter 3D vector text with different parameters. If someone still has a disk with this utility, I would be gratefull if you could send me a copy. (I think this software was PD)

I use photoshop and windows paint, create bitmap files and then I write custom programs to convert them to the MSX format I need. Not the most sofisticated method but it works ok.

nyyrikki: such a tool (add dots to 3d space and connect them) would actually be dead-easy to make. I might keep it in mind when I have some more time available..
