Question for the MSXVR team: will you use passive cooling (heatsink) for thermal control of the Raspberry 3B+?

About software outside the MSXVR
We think that SOFTWARE + HARDWARE = MSXVR. We want the MSXVR to be something special and different, so, all of these concepts are important. MSXVR Evolution = SOFTWARE + HARDWARE evolution. All combined.

Understandable. You guys seem to have invested money and a lot of work on this.

I think I'll pass this round. Or at least some more convincing is required for me to justify that purchase Smile
Looks good so far, but I want to see more.

Btw, the device has some potential on other retro communities also. I'd say Spectrum people would be most obvious because there are large enough user base, and there aren't much Spectrum-specific peripherals anyone cares about, when the joystick ports and storage systems are already built in. So probably no hardware modifications are required.

Also with Commodore there might be similar situation..?

The Commodore scene has some similar upcoming projects they work on, the Foenix C264 and the Mega 65. iComp had released the second edition of their Chameleon64 this year. All of them allowing to use different cores. The Chameleon64 is working as an C64 Mega cartridge and as a stand-alone FPGA (without keyboard) and use an OCM core.

About temperature
In the past we used passive heatsinks, but in the last two models/prototypes due to passive cooling being part of the design, the computer naturally has a stable temperature. We have been working all through the summer this year and the previous with temperatures reaching 39º ... really ... the temperature is stable. We are considering to add heatsinks as an optional extra if anybody wants it, but we don't really think it is necessary.

That Mega looks awesome, although I've never had a Commodore.

I'm more impressed with the MSXVR and the ZX Spectrum Next to be honest. They look like the old machines.

The Mega 65 is a rebuild of the original prototypes that rarely still exists. It's an late 80's design.
Both, the Mega and the Foenix are sold in a similar price range as the VR, that's why I mentioned them.
The Next looks very modern to me, the VR keeps the roots of the 80's mixed with a modern keyboard layout. Indeed very lovely, too. But that's all subjective reflections of man driving an Renault 4 for too long.
I'm started with Commodore and end with an ugly car, let's go on topic again!

Which videos have direct capture footage of games running on MSXVR? (Meaning, captured from the HDMI out or the A/V out, rather than a video camera aimed at the display.) I saw some videos on the MSXVR site that had still shots of a game running + its title screen, but those were only static photos taken with a camera of the system and a TV.

That Sky Jaguar 2 video looks like at least the latter half is direct capture, but I'd prefer seeing/hearing a game I have an idea what it should look/sound like. The sound emulation in AtGames Megadrive devices and the myriad issues Sony's PSX thing got have made me a bit wary...

You are talking about the video testing cartridges. If Alberto have to make a vídeo of the 300/400 games, maybe will need 2 or 3 hours of video xD
