So I'm pondering to enrich YouTube with compilations of classic non-Japanese PSG (MSX) tunes.

What I got planned now is:

* Death Wish III

* Cosmic Shock Absorber

* Last Mission

* Mask III - Venom Strikes Back

* Titanic

* Master of the Lamps

* Auf Wiedersehen Monty

...

I'm eager to receive suggestions. I must be forgetting loads of them.

Also, as doing this will probably concern multiple movies, do you reckon it's best to sort them by year of publishing?

One of the best around is Terramex (I think MSX has the best music on that game on all ports I have played), another one that pops my mind is International Karate. Not that impressive but hey, it's a chiptune aight? Wink

Shocked! Oooooh my God MäSäXi, I might as well take a vacation to do all that! Smile

About some of the games, however, I don't think they'll be included, for instance:

* Aliens - Great music indeed, but it's 100% Japanese; nobody less than Nobuo Uematsu did this before he created the now famous Final Fantasy score

* Dynamite Dan - The music is W.A. Mozart's "Turkish Rondo" and the rendition is nothing special

* Super Tripper - Same as before; wasn't it Beethoven's 5th Symphony?

* Skooter - Again same reason; it's Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag", a.k.a. "Stars and Stripes"

* Jet Set Willy - Diddo; this is a generic, sped-up rendition of a known song as well. Can't remember the name, but my grandma used to sing it. Also used in Konami's Pooyan

* Jet Bomber - Rather noisy version of the Star Wars main theme. Not sure if I should include it. Smile

* Ghostbusters & The Munsters - Hard to decide for the same reasons. Although The Munsters' theme sounds kinda cool on PSG

* Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom - Are you sure that game had music? Question My memory might be failing though

Apart from those, you actually pointed out some good ones which I indeed had forgotten. Thanks!

100% european! Smile you surely are born in Japan as you don´t know this european game! Tongue

* Super Tripper - Same as before; wasn't it Beethoven's 5th Symphony?

no, it was Brian Setzer Orchestra´s "Take The 5th (an adaption of Beethoven´s "Symphony No. 5")" :P and is good psg arrangement, me thinks :)

* Skooter - Again same reason; it's Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag", a.k.a. "Stars and Stripes"

You mean you don´t like Skooter´s music either? oO

* Jet Set Willy - Diddo; this is a generic, sped-up rendition of a known song as well. Can't remember the name, but my grandma used to sing it. Also used in Konami's Pooyan

Are you talking IN-GAME music? It´s "Fiddler on the Roof" but title screen theme is "Moonlight Sonata", which is NOT a generic piece of music, especially in Willy II. :)

* Jet Bomber - Rather noisy version of the Star Wars main theme. Not sure if I should include it.
* Ghostbusters & The Munsters - Hard to decide for the same reasons. Although The Munsters' theme sounds kinda cool on PSG

Seems like you want to use FM musics instead of PSG? :P They are well done arrangements! :) And everything is a matter of taste, of course. :)

* Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom - Are you sure that game had music? My memory might be failing though

It surely has, two tunes, title screen is ONLY place which is silent. :) But I bet you don´t like it either, as it has "simplistic" sound, really not the best psg musics ever, but I like them! :)

Apart from those, you actually pointed out some good ones which I indeed had forgotten. Thanks!

You are welcome, and it´s nice reason to get vacation: put MSX psg musics to youtube! :P

About the Aliens game, wow, I thought there were only a ZX Spectrum and IBM compatible version!
Cool, I'll look for it.

Probably you'd already guessed I meant this one: Tongue

I don't mean I dislike the tunes of Super Tripper, Skooter or Jet Set Willy.
Maybe it's a good idea to dedicate a special movie to "MSX PSG versions of classic music".
"Classic", as in well-known, which would include Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Munsters etc.

Just to make sure that the tune gets mentioned once again:

FEUD

I don't know why this rather repetitive tune never gets irritating but it definitely is one of my favorite MSX PSG tunes ever!

Continuing on the classic music adaptations: I particularly like the intro musics of the three Topografie games by Radarsoft. Especially Topografie Wereld is excellent.

And there are two or three very distinctive Aackosoft tunes that return in many of their games (perhaps already mentioned above), see the thread at http://www.msx.org/forumtopic8326.html .
