Introduction

Meits (Jelle Jelsma, 1977) came in contact with MSX in 1986 when his dad bought an MSX through a computer sales program at the company he worked for. The choice was a Sony 700 or a Philips 8235. Since those machines were awfully expensive, the 8235 was taken home.

Meits was jealous as hell to all the others who got a Sony 700 since he couldn't play the same games they could. So every time he got back from a visit to one of the Genic guys, all he had were some MSX1 games. Luckily a few years later the 8235 was traded to a Sony 700. Back to Genic's Ronald Zijlstra.

Unfortunatly he sold all his MSX stuff and pointed him to (Chip) Andre Annema. Later on, Andre and he started experimenting with making software. Meits bought an FM-PAC at MK Public Domain with FAC Soundtracker 1.0. This got replaced by Soundtracker 2.0 and later on with Moonblaster 1.4.

After recruting some other MSX people from the Neighborhood the development of the first music disk started and got released by MSX Club Friesland Noord. From this first music disk on Meits handled the music.

He contributed to a hand full of music disks with MSX Club Friesland Noord, MSX Gebruikersgroep Friesland and Near Dark of which he is one of the founding members.

Next to the music disks he coordinated the release of DISK (De Idiootste Software Krant), an adolescent disk magazine by MSX Club Friesland Noord/Near Dark. After the Zandvoort 1997 fair he quit the MSX scene to come back in 2004 as an active scene member. Since 2010 even handling the main code of the music demos.

Makes music on MSX exclusively. His synthesizers are controlled by a homebrew hack for MBWAVE.
The tallest MSX scener at 2.08 meters.
Has used a MoonSound to play keyboards in a black metal band in 1999.
Has had an alter ego in JOAN (Jelle Onder Andere Naam) in his Tweety period.
As an eight year old he used to reset his dad's 8235 by putting a pair of scissors in slot 1.
