DEFINE (MSX-DOS 1 Tool)

Description

It's an MSX-DOS 1 tool created by K. van Buul. You can find it on Future Magazine 3.

Command

Effect

Changes the content of the function keys, some screen settings and saves all by modifying the MSX-DOS file SETSCR.COM (provided with the default settings).

Note: It's recommended to use MODE 80 before launching this tool.

Usage

This command does not take parameters, but asks the needed information in interactive mode.

Note that the help at the bottom of the screen includes some errrors.

Useful entries at the keyboard:

  • F1 (!not the function key) = change content of function key F1
  • F2 to F10 = the same for the other function keys
  • If the text contains an MSX-BASIC instruction and you want to have it automatically executed upon pressing the function key, add | at the end of the new content. This corresponds to the RETURN/ENTER key.
  • D = display or not line 24 of the screen (toggle entry)
  • V = modify foreground color (number between 0 and 15)
  • A = modify background color (number between 0 and 15)
  • K = modify border color (number between 0 and 15)
  • T = enable or disable the keyclick (toggle entry)
  • S = save the new settings by modifying the SETSCR.COM file
