Description

This rare MSX2 computer without MSX logo was designed specifically for Factory Automation to control robotic arms and other kind of machinery. It was aimed at the Japanese market.

The design is somewhat unusual with a ruggid white box including

  • two locations for vertical floppy disk drives
  • three vertical cartridge slots allowing useful extensions such as RAMdisks for timing critical operations or control sensors
  • a RS-232C interface

This machine is provided with a mouse and a keyboard, that is the same as for the NTT Captain Multi-Station as it has also the KPC (Kobe Port Captain) logo.

Several devices, components and extensions were available for this professional computer:

  • MX30A - internal 2DD floppy disk drive - ¥38,000
  • MX30B - internal 2DD/HD floppy disk drive (with built-in MSX-DOS 2) - ¥52,000
  • MX-400 - replacement keyboard - ¥11,000
  • MX-200 - Z80 STD bus motherboard (10 slots) - ¥19,000
  • MX-201 - MSX bus motherboard (3 slots) - ¥8,500
  • MX-35 - SRAM cartridge - 2 versions: 1MB and 500kB
