Introduction

Demo published in May 1989 by the BCF team on a single sided disk. Was also available as MCM Public Domain disk B12.

It is actually the first production of this Dutch team and has been entirely written by Koert van Mensvoort, the BCF Chief. As you can guess it, it refers to one of the best Konami MSX games, Penguin Adventure. Except for an hidden scroll in screen 1, this demo uses the MSX2 resources on screen 8.

Content

Intro 1

Penguindemo1.png

A simple animation to display the first names of the three members of the team at its beginning and a blue BCF logo displayed on a red shiny sky. It's also the first appearance of Snout the elephant, the BCF mascot.

Intro 2

Penguindemo2.png

The second intro displays a well-known picture of Penguin Adventure with a short text scroll: "HAI FANS! BCF SUPERWARE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: THE PENGUIN DEMO.... THIS TREMENDOUS DEMO WAS WRITTEN AND DESIGNED BY K.v.MENSVOORT.... LOOK OUT FOR OTHER BCF GAMES, CRACKS AND DEMO'S"

Menu

Penguindemo3.png

Another big Konami reference is used for the menu: The Game Master! 5 visible options, but as in some Konami games, you can press F1 to enter a password. The following passwords are accepted:

  • BCF to see again the first intro
  • SCROLL to see an hidden scroll
  • SNOUT to see the Snout animation that is also visible at the bottom of the BCF option
  • VADER JACOB (= Brother John) to hear a PSG version of the famous nursery rhyme

You can also try BUTAKO, NORIKO and ZENBU, but you will be probably disapppointed!

That's not all! An extra animation appears on the menu if you run the demo the first day of a month!

Demo

Penguindemo4.png

The demo option allows to see the surprizing meetings of the beloved Penguin with the giant Penguin of Parodius and the battleship of Nemesis. Yes, we remain in the Konami games!

Gamble

Penguindemo5.png

Another direct reference to Penguin Adventure, combined with a PSG music evoking a strippoker game. So, you have a playable game inside a demo, with some unexpected events, if you are a big loser or a big winner. Try it!

When you quit this part, the computer will reboot to avoid memory problems.

Tips

Penguindemo6.png

Just some tips about the merchants, the warps and Santa Claus in Penguin Adventure! A good way to incite you to play this great game!

Picture

Penguindemo7.png

This Penguin Adventure digitized picture is famous because it's the third time it is used, after his appearances in the Konami demo of MSX Computer Magazine 21 and the first MCM Art Gallery in MSX/ MS-DOS Computer Magazine 29.

BCF

Penguindemo8.png

A short info about BCF, enhanced by a Snout animation where the hungry elephant decides to destroy an Amiga computer. Of course, a MSX2 computer is better!

Hidden scroll

Penguindemo9.png

It's the only part in screen 1. The flashing text scroll announces the BCF projects: "THE ALLREADY LEGENDARY BCF PRESENTS YOU THE PENGUIN DEMO DESIGNED AND PROGRAMMED BY K.V. MENSVOORT WE ARE ALREADY WORKING ON TWO NEW DEMOS! THE NEMESIS AND VAMPIRE KILLER DEMO FUCK AMIGA!"
