Description

NOTE!
The service manual indicates that the PX-7 HE is the European model, and PX-7 HB type is the UK model. However, the box of the computer indicates PX-7(BK), which can be confused with the Japanese Pioneer PX-7(BK).

The international Pioneer PX-7(BK) is an MSX1 computer, aimed at the UK market. It was meant for attaching to a LaserDisc player, and as such has superimpose capabilities. The PSG sound is stereo, contrary to almost all MSX machines.

Unlike the Japanese PX-7, this model was only available in black. Compared to the Japanese machine, the composite video in and out connectors use BNC rather then RCA, it does not have hue control (which is really more an NTSC issue), and it does not have a 3.5mm data recorder input.

The separate keyboard has the reference AWX-323.

Notes:

  • There was also meant to be a European version, the PX-7 HE according to the service manual but it seems it was never released.
  • No PAL compatible LaserDisc software was ever released for the Pioneer system, and the Japanese NTSC releases are not compatible with the international Pioneer PX-7(BK)
