TRANSFER (MSX-DOS 1 Tool)

Description

It's a MSX-DOS 1 tool created by Markus The. You can find it in MSX MS-DOS Computer Magazine 32 and the corresponding MCMD31 disk.

Command

Effect

Transfers binary or tokenized BASIC files from cassette to disk.

Notes:

  • The Data Recorder support has been removed from the MSX Turbo R.
  • BASIC files in ASCII format are not supported.
  • Protected commercial games can't be cracked with this tool.

Syntax

TRANSFER <Device>:<Filename>

All parameters are optional.

Parameters

<Device> is the name for destination device. It can only be a disk drive.

If you don't specify the drive, the computer will use the currently active drive (by default, it's drive A:)

<Filename> is the file name without extension. The tool will add the extension .#00 to the first file transferred, #.01 to the second file transferred, etc. When the filename is not specified, the tool will use the default name TRFILE.

Usage

You can choose between automatic saving mode (no need to enter a filename for each file found on the tape) and manual saving mode (a filename needs to be entered for each file found on the tape).
